Beacon – The Edit Lab Terms of Participation

Parties: Beacon (“Organizer”) and the undersigned participant (“Participant”)
Effective Date: Upon registration for any Edit Lab session (Live or Remote)
Applies To: All participants in The Edit Lab, including in-person attendees and remote contributors

1. Ownership of Work (Intellectual Property)

All creative work produced for or during The Edit Lab—including but not limited to photographs, videos, styling, makeup, modeling, behind-the-scenes content, and written materials (“Work”)—becomes the property of Beacon.

License to Participant:
Participants may share the Work for self-promotional purposes (e.g., personal websites, portfolios, social media), provided proper credit is given to Beacon – The Edit Lab.
Selling, licensing, or commercially exploiting the Work in any form requires prior written permission from Beacon.

This applies to all Work created or submitted through both in-person participation and remote submissions.

2. Liability & Assumption of Risk

Participation in The Edit Lab—whether in person or remotely—is voluntary.

In-person participants may be working:

  • Outdoors or in public spaces

  • In studios or rented venues

  • In unpredictable weather or around the general public

Potential risks include minor injuries, accidents, or damage to personal property.

Remote participants are similarly responsible for ensuring their own safety and conduct during their production process.

By participating, you:

  • Acknowledge and accept all inherent risks

  • Assume full responsibility for your own safety and behavior

  • Release Beacon, its partners, affiliates, volunteers, and venues from any and all claims or damages related to your participation

Personal Belongings:
You are solely responsible for your own equipment, wardrobe, tools, and materials, whether on-site or remote.

3. Media Release

By participating, you consent to being:

  • Photographed

  • Filmed

  • Included in behind-the-scenes content

This applies during the event and through any submitted remote content.

You grant Beacon the right to use this content for:

  • Promotional purposes

  • Editorial publications

  • Digital and print marketing

  • Commercial use

This consent is given without the need for further approval or additional compensation.

Remote participants who submit media (e.g., team BTS footage or production stills) grant similar usage rights under this release.

4. Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to:

  • Work collaboratively and respectfully

  • Treat fellow participants, organizers, and venues with professionalism

  • Follow event guidelines and the rules of any physical or digital location involved

Disruptive behavior, harassment, or disregard for safety protocols may result in:

  • Disqualification from prizes

  • Immediate removal from the event

  • Future participation restrictions

Summary

By registering for The Edit Lab, you confirm that you:

  • Have read and understood this agreement

  • Accept the outlined terms, rights, and responsibilities

  • Are participating voluntarily, either in-person or remotely
